What You Will Do (Essential Responsibilities):
- Design, build, and deploy production-grade APIs and services within a microservices/serverless architecture.
- Own your code from design to deployment, ensuring scalability, security, and performance at every step.
- Automate testing and delivery through robust unit, integration, and performance tests for reliability at scale.
- Document your work clearly for internal stakeholders and external developers consuming our public APIs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, researchers, and operations teams to translate ideas into production-ready features.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and help drive continuous improvement.
- Develop clean, maintainable, and production hardened code.
What You Bring (Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
- A Bachelor of Computer Science or related field.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience using modern frameworks and tools. (Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Relevant development experience with Java, JavaScript, and front-end SPA frameworks (Bootstrap).
- HTML/CSS, experience with Java template engines (e.g. FreeMarker, Thymeleaf, etc.)
- Relational database experience (e.g. PostgreSQL)
- Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) such as S3, SQS, ECS, EC2, and Lambda would be preferrable.
- Proficiency with Git.
- Proficiency with spoken and written English.
What Would Be Nice (Preferred Skills & Experience):
- 1+ years of production experience in Golang.
- Programming experience in Python, Groovy, Bash, and/or C++.
- Experience with cloud provisioning with infrastructure as code using CloudFormation, Terraform, AWS CDK, and/or similar.
- Experience developing solutions for deployment within Docker containers, CI/CD procedures (Jenkins) and implementation of distributed systems based on serverless technology or micro-services architecture.
- Frontend exposure to React/Redux, or similar JavaScript frameworks.
- Database experience with MongoDB, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, or RDS.
- Experience developing solutions for deployment within Docker containers, CI/CD procedures (Jenkins) and implementation of distributed systems based on serverless technology or micro-services architecture.
- Familiarity with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, or image processing.
- Experience integrating WebRTC into web/mobile apps and backend services.
- Awareness of machine learning architectures or data pipelines.
- Experience delivering features from user stories through to deployment in Agile environments.
