SAN DIEGO – August 19, 2014 - Mitek (NASDAQ: MITK, www.miteksystems.com), the leading innovator of mobile imaging for financial transactions and identity, today announced that it has appointed Fritz Hesse as interim Vice President of Engineering.

Hesse joined Mitek in 2011 as a Vice President in the R&D organization.  He has been instrumental in the development of Mobile Deposit®  and most recently spearheaded the launch of the Mitek Developer program.  He has more than twenty years of engineering experience. Prior to Mitek, Hesse served as VP of Engineering at Intuit and PeopleSoft.

Hesse will continue to work alongside  Chief Scientist, Grigori Nepomniachtchi, and with the rest of Mitek’s team of scientists, engineers and developers.  His experience and familiarity with the technology will enable Mitek to maintain R&D momentum while seeking a CTO to further its capabilities in mobile imaging for financial transactions and identity.

“We are delighted to have Fritz assume this important role as Mitek continues to advance its technology,” said James B. DeBello, president and Chief Executive Officer.

Michael Strange has left his position as Chief Technology Officer and Mitek thanks him for his many contributions.  He joined Mitek in July 2012 after the USAA suit was initiated and his departure is unrelated to those proceedings.
