Mitek’s mobile check deposit technology is used by 6,100 banks. Customers snap pictures of checks with their smartphones to make deposits. Mitek also provides mobile bill pay and mobile identification verification.

A2iA taps artificial intelligence and machine learning to create proprietary algorithms that process checks and documents. Melding A2iA’s technology with Mitek’s Mobile Verify and Mobile Deposit apps will allow faster, more accurate processing so financial institutions know their online customers are who they claim they are.

The acquisition will double the size of Mitek’s research lab team, which works on computer vision, machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies. No changes are expected at A2iA, which is based in Paris.
