What You’ll Do (Role Description)

Mitek is seeking a DevOps Engineer to help scale, maintain, and improve our best-in-class cloud-based products, and will base this person in our European headquarters In Amsterdam. This person will have a solid and successful background driving architecture, automation, and infrastructure for both the cloud and on-premise. They will work with engineering teams in the both the US & Netherlands to automate, design, and architect cloud-based products and support production. They’ll develop tools and strategies for deployment, testing, monitoring, and automating.

We’re seeking an individual with the passion to automate everything and experience in infrastructure-as-code (IAC), configuration management, monitoring, metrics, and tools development for enterprise software, systems, and cloud operations. A successful candidate will have great communication skills and be a creative thinker. They’ll be customer-oriented, and carry a sense of ownership.  A proven track record of designing, developing, and maintaining dependable, mission-critical systems and products is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously improve the global cloud infrastructure in order to easily deploy, scale, secure, and build 
  • Build and innovate tools or automation to replace operating manual processes, deployment, and operational tasks
  • Collaborate and help build utilities and tools for internal use that enable you and your fellow engineers to operate safely at high speed and wide scale
  • Respond to production issues and drive the production to excellence
  • Implement and improve monitoring and analytics to get better visibility to environments and applications
  • Work with engineering teams on product development and resolving issues related to application configuration, deployment, or debugging
  • Provide build and deployment automation support (CI/CD)
  • Work cross-functionally with various teams to drive amazing results
  • Resolve problems at their root with simple and repeatable solutions
  • Design automated systems management solutions with self-repair as the goal
  • Create processes that enhance operation workflow and provide positive customer impact
  • Respond to production issues and participate in on-call schedule

What You Need (Skills/Experience/Abilities)

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps and Cloud technologies

  • Understanding of agile methodologies and practices
  • Be an expert in Windows and Linux in an enterprise production environment
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services in production environment including EC2, VPC, S3. RDS, IAM, ELB, DynamoDB, CloudWatch
  • Experience using configuration management tools like Chef or Puppet
  • Knowledge of programming and scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Ruby, or Python
  • An understanding of network engineering and security principles (e.g. protocols, routing, switching, VLAN, filtering, firewall rules, VPN, encryptions, etc.)
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as Code such as CloudFormation, Packer
  • Experience with operational analytics and metrics gathering systems such as ElasticSearch
  • Experience with monitoring solutions (Zabbix, Nagios)
  • Experience in operational automation and self-service infrastructure
  • Systems administration (Linux and Windows). Experience with virtualization technologies (VMWare 5.0 and higher)
  • Experience with application load balancers
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of source control and versioning tools (Git)

Nice-to-Haves

  • Knowledge supporting and implementing Microsoft Active Directory Services
  • Understanding infrastructure-as-code test frameworks such ServerSpec, ChefSpec, BATS, and etc.
  • Experience supporting Windows environments using Powershell or other management tool
  • Knowledge supporting IIS application servers and related technologies
  • Experience supporting databases including backup and recovery procedures such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL, or MongoDB
  • Experience with CI and Automation tools such as Jenkins, RunDeck, and VSTS
  • Knowledge of continuous Integration and delivery (CI/CD)
