Mitek uses its decades of experience to address specific challenges associated with mobile capture and extractive imaging. There are myriad challenges that can come about from finding information within images captured from mobile devices – 3D to 2D perspective distortions, shadows, out-of-focus issues, document warping, folds and skews, all of which have to be recognized, analyzed and processed in order to extract high-quality document images and information from within photos. Technologies range from OCR/ICR through topology, topography, probability, statistics, use of neural networks and all combined with expert systems that allow for building of knowledge bases around various document types and their idiosyncracies.
